Canada Holds an Express Entry Round for Healthcare and Social Services Workers

Source: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, 4 Sep 2026 · Checked 13 Oct 2026

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held an Express Entry round on 4 September 2026 for its healthcare and social services occupations category. It invited 3,500 candidates to apply for permanent residence.

In a category-based round, IRCC ranks the candidates in the Express Entry pool who meet the category's requirements and invites the top-ranking ones. The occupations listed for this category include registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, and nursing coordinators and supervisors, along with other health and social services occupations.

IRCC's pages list every round and explain who is eligible for each category, including the work experience it asks for. Rounds and rules change often, so read them on IRCC's own site.

Who it affects: candidates in the Express Entry pool who work in the listed healthcare and social services occupations.
